Description

Palandöken (Büyük Ejder summit, 3,271 m) rises immediately south of the city of Erzurum in eastern Anatolia, Turkey. It is best known as one of Turkey's leading ski destinations through the Ejder 3200 resort — home to some of the country's longest and most snow-sure slopes, served by a gondola that carries visitors close to the top. Outside the ski season the mountain draws ice climbers to the Palandöken Ice Park and summer trekkers on a relatively easy walk-up to the summit. The altitude and eastern-Anatolian climate make winters harsh, yet the lift infrastructure makes it one of the most accessible 3,000-metre peaks in Turkey.

Routes

Palandöken Ice Park — panjat es musim dingin

Panjat es (WI) — memerlukan kapak es, crampon, dan pengaman; medan teknis
Bervariasi per pitch (latihan setengah hari hingga sehari)

Not a summit route but an ice-climbing area on Palandöken's flanks known as the Palandöken Ice Park. Its ice walls and pillars host winter ice-climbing training and competitions (buz tırmanış), giving Palandöken a mountaineering draw beyond skiing. It demands ice-climbing gear, skill, and experienced supervision.

Pendakian Puncak Büyük Ejder (3.271 m) via Ejder 3200

Trekking / mudah — jalur padang rumput dan scree tanpa bagian teknis di musim panas
Sekitar 3–5 jam pulang-pergi dari stasiun lift atas (musim panas)

Summer walk-up to Palandöken's highest point, Büyük Ejder. Hikers typically use the Ejder 3200 resort gondola/lift network to shorten the ascent, then follow the open, scree-covered ridge to the summit with panoramas over Erzurum and the eastern-Anatolian plateau. There are no technical obstacles, but exposed-ridge wind and rapid weather changes warrant care.

Climbing Experiences

Experiences on Palandöken split by season. In winter the mountain lives as the Ejder 3200 ski resort above Erzurum and doubles as an ice-climbing venue at the Palandöken Ice Park, regularly used for training and competitions. In summer, hikers walk up to the Büyük Ejder summit (3,271 m) on a relatively easy trekking route, often aided by the lift network. The clips below show that range — from trekking and summit tırmanış, to ice climbing, to an overview of the resort itself.
