Description

Olat Desa is a hill on Sumbawa island, West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia, at roughly 8.644°S 117.714°E — about 1,200 km east of Jakarta. The word "olat" itself means hill or mountain in the Sumbawa language, so the name means roughly "village hill." According to digital-elevation-model (DEM) data compiled by the GeoNames/NGA-GNS geographic database, its summit stands about 261 m above sea level with a local prominence of about 120 m above the surrounding terrain, and a base width of about 2.8 km. The land is hilly to the west and flattens eastward toward the sea, which is the nearest feature on its eastern side; the nearest higher point, Olat Maja (about 503 m), lies some 4.3 km to the north. The area is sparsely populated and the surrounding landscape is dominated by farmland, with small bays and hills common in the region. Its climate is a dry savanna type: mean temperature about 26 °C (hottest October ~33 °C, coldest February ~24 °C) and annual rainfall around 1,456 mm (wettest January ~294 mm, driest August ~19 mm). Note: another open-data DEM reading gives a lower elevation (~243 m). No hiking trail, tourism coverage, or specific local record could be found for this hill; this profile is compiled from open geographic databases, and its data limitations are stated plainly.
