Description
Numbur (Numburchuli, 6,958 m) is a Himalayan peak in the Rolwaling/Solu region of Nepal, within the Gaurishankar Conservation Area. To the people of Solu, Numbur is a sacred mountain — regarded as the protector deity of the region — so its summit remains virgin (unclimbed). Instead, the mountain is known through the 'Numbur Cheese Circuit', a remote trek in Ramechhap district named after the Numbur peak and after a historic cheese factory dating to 1957. The trail crosses forest, Sherpa settlements, monasteries, high pastures, alpine ponds (such as Panch Pokhari/Jata Pokhari) and a pass of nearly 5,000 m, with panoramas of Numbur and neighbouring peaks such as Karyolung and Khatang. Still little visited, the trek offers solitude and a distinctive herding-and-cheese culture, while respecting the mountain's sacred status.

Routes
Numbur Cheese Circuit (Shivalaya/Jiri — kolam alpine — pass ±5.000 m)
Trek terpencil menengah–berat (ketinggian hingga ±4.500–5.000 m)The main trekking route at the foot of Numbur. Starting from Shivalaya (or finishing at Jiri), the loop passes Sherpa settlements, Thodung monastery, cheese factories, high pastures, alpine ponds such as Panch Pokhari/Jata Pokhari, and a pass approaching 5,000 m with panoramas of Numbur. Being remote and largely a camping trek, it demands good logistics and acclimatisation. Numbur's summit itself is not climbed because of its sacred status.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Because Numbur's summit is culturally protected and unclimbed, experiences here centre on the 'Numbur Cheese Circuit' — the remote trek at its foot. This set includes an 8-day video of the trail, a day hike to Tare Kharka, a personal travel-blog account, a community travel guide (Wikivoyage), and an operator description covering the route's history and high-pass details. All links were verified live before inclusion.
