Description
Nevado del Tolima (~5,215 m) is a glacier-clad andesitic stratovolcano in Colombia's Cordillera Central, set within Los Nevados National Natural Park south of Nevado del Ruiz. Its near-symmetrical cone has earned it the nickname 'Colombia's Fuji.' Although its volcanism is now quiet (last significant eruption in 1943, last major eruption around 3,600 years ago), the summit still holds a cap of snow and ice. Climbing it is a multi-day expedition that passes through stacked ecological zones — cloud forest, paramo and super-paramo — before reaching a high camp near the glacier. The summit itself is a steep snow-and-ice cone requiring crampons, an ice axe and a rope. Popular approaches start from the Cocora Valley near Salento, or from the western side via the Combeima Canyon. The mix of extreme altitude, glacier terrain and volatile Andean weather makes it one of Colombia's hardest and most coveted ascents.

Routes
Ruta desde Hacienda El Placer (Cañón del Combeima)
Sulit — teknis glasial, pendekatan lebih pendek namun curamApproach from the western side via the Combeima Canyon and Hacienda El Placer; a shorter but steeper route to high camp, followed by a crampon glacier climb to the summit.
Ruta normal desde Valle de Cocora (Salento)
Sulit — teknis glasial (butuh crampon, ice axe, dan tali)The classic route starting from the Cocora Valley near Salento, crossing cloud forest, paramo and super-paramo to a high camp near the glacier, then tackling the steep summit snow/ice cone with crampons and rope.
