Description
Mount Washington (1,917 m / 6,288 ft) is the highest peak in the northeastern United States and the most topographically prominent mountain east of the Mississippi River. Rising in the Presidential Range of New Hampshire's White Mountains, it is notorious for brutal weather: the summit's Mount Washington Observatory recorded a wind speed of 372 km/h (231 mph) in April 1934 — a world record until 1996 and still the highest ever measured outside a tornado or tropical cyclone. Although the trails are non-technical in summer, the mix of altitude, wind and sudden weather makes it dangerous year-round. Hikers reach the top by several approaches — the iconic Tuckerman Ravine Trail, Lion Head, the Ammonoosuc Ravine–Jewell loop, and the Appalachian Trail which crosses the summit. The top is also served by the Mount Washington Cog Railway (west) and the Auto Road (east), so it is often crowded. Backcountry skiing in Tuckerman Ravine and annual running and cycling races to the summit round out its activities.

Routes
Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail → Lakes of the Clouds → Crawford Path
Berat (tangga granit curam & scramble di atas Gem Pool)Climbs the western flank past cascades and Gem Pool to the AMC Lakes of the Clouds Hut in the alpine zone, then follows the Crawford Path about 1.4 miles to the summit — the most direct approach from the west.
Jewell Trail (via Gulfside/Appalachian Trail)
Sedang–Berat (lebih landai & berkelok dari Ammonoosuc)A gentler, switchbacked western approach that ascends a ridge and joins the Gulfside/Appalachian Trail, crossing the Cog Railway tracks before the final rocky push to the summit; commonly paired with Ammonoosuc as a loop.
Tuckerman Ravine Trail (via Pinkham Notch)
Berat (bagian bawah landai, dinding kepala ravine curam)The most iconic and popular route to the summit, about 4.1 miles one-way from Pinkham Notch through the glacial cirque of Tuckerman Ravine before a steep final climb to the top. In winter the ravine is avalanche-prone and for experienced parties only.
Climbing Experiences
Mount Washington (1,917 m), the highest peak in the northeastern US, famous for its extreme weather. Climbers highlight the iconic Tuckerman Ravine Trail, winter ascents via Lion Head, and the Ammonoosuc Ravine–Jewell loop — always warning how wind and storms can turn savage at the summit.
