Description
Mount Tomorr (Mali i Tomorrit, ~2,416 m at its Çuka e Partizanit summit) is a sacred massif rising over south-central Albania, in the Berat and Skrapar districts. It forms the heart of Tomorr National Park — a region of deciduous and coniferous forest home to bears, wolves and birds of prey — and is one of the holiest places in Albania. Each year on 20–25 August, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims, especially followers of the Bektashi order, climb to the Kulmak tekke and the türbe (shrine) of Abbas Ali on the southern ridge to honour Abbas ibn Ali, who by tradition arrives on a white horse. For hikers the draw is a blend of open alpine landscape, sweeping panoramas over the Osum valley and the town of Berat below, and a strong cultural-religious dimension. The usual route climbs from the Kulmak tekke area across alpine meadows to the summit ridge; many visitors combine part of the approach with a horse or donkey ride. In Albanian tradition Tomorr is often called the 'father mountain', a symbol woven into national identity and local legend.

Routes
Trek lereng berhutan dari sisi Berat
Berat: tanjakan panjang menembus hutan ek lalu padang alpineA more demanding alternative for those who want a full valley-to-summit climb without shortcutting by vehicle. The trail passes through oak forest on Tomorr's lower slopes and then climbs to high alpine meadows before merging with the summit ridge. It demands stamina because of the large elevation difference and partly unmarked path, so navigation (map/GPS) and an early start are advised. The reward is a quieter national-park atmosphere and the transition from forest to open alpine landscape.

Sedang–berat: tanjakan padang alpine dan punggungan terbuka; jalur sebagian tak bertandaThe main and most-travelled route to the summit of Mount Tomorr. From Berat/Poliçan an off-road track climbs to the Kulmak tekke area (about 2,230 m), the mountain's Bektashi pilgrimage centre. From there hikers continue on foot across alpine meadows and open ridge to the highest point, Çuka e Partizanit (~2,416 m). Many visitors combine part of the approach with a horse or donkey ride, a tradition that peaks during the 20–25 August pilgrimage week. The open ridge leaves the route exposed to wind and fast-changing weather, but rewards with wide panoramas over the Osum valley and the town of Berat.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Climbing Mount Tomorr blends two sides: alpine adventure and sacred pilgrimage. The usual trailhead is the Kulmak tekke area, reached by an off-road track from the Berat/Poliçan side; from there hikers climb across open alpine meadows toward the Çuka e Partizanit summit ridge (~2,416 m). Visitors' videos show sweeping panoramas over the Osum valley and the town of Berat, the popular horseback approach for part of the way, and the religious atmosphere around the tekke and the shrine of Abbas Ali. During the Bektashi pilgrimage week (20–25 August) the mountain fills with hundreds of thousands of people — a unique cultural moment but a very crowded trail. Outside that season Tomorr offers a quieter hike over open terrain, with strong ridge winds and fast-changing weather.
