Description
Sahand (about 3,707 m) is a massive, heavily eroded dormant stratovolcano in East Azerbaijan Province, northwestern Iran, and the highest mountain in that province. The massif sits directly south of the city of Tabriz and comprises roughly 17 peaks over 3,000 m; its high point is named Kamal (3,707 m). Made chiefly of dacite and other felsic rocks, Sahand is famed for its variety of flora and fauna and is nicknamed the 'bride of mountains' in Iran. Thanks to its easy access from a large city and relatively non-technical terrain in the warm season, Sahand is a popular destination for local hikers doing weekend ascents or multi-peak traverses (e.g. Kamal, Boz Daghi, Darvishlar), while its broad snowfields draw ski-mountaineers in winter.

Routes
Jalur puncak utama Kamal (dari sisi selatan Tabriz)
Menengah, non-teknis (musim hangat)The normal route to Sahand's high point, Kamal (3,707 m), approached from the villages and pastures on the southern, Tabriz side. It is a long uphill hike across high meadows and volcanic rock with no technical difficulty in the warm season, making it popular for weekend ascents by climbers from Tabriz and Maragheh. Acclimatization and care with rapidly changing weather are still needed.

Menengah (skrambling ketinggian, non-teknis)Because the Sahand massif holds roughly 17 closely spaced peaks over 3,000 m, experienced hikers often link several summits in one outing — for example Boz Daghi, Darvishlar, and Kamal. The route demands stamina and ridge-to-ridge navigation, rewarded with sweeping views of the eroded crater and high meadows. In winter its broad snowfields become ski-mountaineering terrain.
