Description
Mount Rosea (about 1,009 m) is one of the most popular day-walk summits in the central Grampians (Gariwerd) of Victoria, near Halls Gap, and one of the few Grampians peaks to exceed 1,000 m. Its appeal is the dramatic sandstone landscape: rock outcrops, boulders, caves and narrow maze-like passageways, including the distinctive 'Gate of the East Wind' formation marking the final leg to the summit. The Mount Rosea Walk from the Rosea Car Park, about 8.6 km return, is rated strenuous by Parks Victoria, with sustained climbing and rock scrambling, and now forms a segment of the Grampians Peaks Trail. The reward is a 360-degree panorama across the Grampians toward Mount William and the western Victorian plains. A longer route links Mount Rosea with Sundial Peak in a loop of about 17.5 km.

Berat (strenuous) — tanjakan panjang dengan bagian scrambling di antara batuanThe most popular route to the summit: from the Rosea Car Park (about a 12-minute drive from Halls Gap), the track climbs steadily through eucalypt forest and sandstone scenery, past rock outcrops, boulders and narrow passageways to the 'Gate of the East Wind' formation near the top. The final leg requires light rock scrambling. The summit (~1,009 m) offers a 360-degree panorama toward Mount William and the western Victorian plains. The route now also forms a segment of the Grampians Peaks Trail.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Experiences on Mount Rosea center on the mix of sustained climbing and dramatic sandstone scenery: rock outcrops, boulders, narrow passageways, and the 'Gate of the East Wind' formation near the summit. Hikers repeatedly highlight the rock scrambling, the 360-degree summit panorama toward Mount William, and its status as a segment of the Grampians Peaks Trail. Many do it as a day trip from the Rosea Car Park, while others combine it with The Pinnacle or make it an overnighter.
