Description
Mount Pico de Loro (also Mount Palay-Palay, 688 m) is a dormant volcano on the border of Cavite and Batangas provinces on Luzon, Philippines. It is the highest mountain in Cavite and the highest peak of the Mounts Palay-Palay–Mataas-na-Gulod Protected Landscape, and one of the ancient volcanic features of the Bataan Arc. Its name — Spanish for 'Parrot's Beak' — was given by Spanish sailors because its pointed summit resembles a bird's beak from afar; the silhouette was once used as a marker to turn east toward Manila Bay. Its most iconic feature is a standing rock monolith (the 'Parrot's Beak') near the summit, which can be scrambled up for a dramatic view but carries real risk. Close to Metro Manila with a comparatively short trail, Pico de Loro is one of the most popular day hikes in the Philippines. The area is managed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) under Proclamation No. 1315 of 2007, and was closed for rehabilitation before reopening with managed access.

Routes
Jalur DENR (Ternate) ke puncak
Ringan–sedang (jalur hutan menanjak; registrasi di trailhead kawasan lindung)Rute utama dan terpopuler dari trailhead sisi Ternate melewati hutan menuju puncak Pico de Loro (688 m). Relatif singkat sehingga menjadi pendakian sehari favorit dekat Metro Manila. Pendaki registrasi di pos DENR dan mengikuti aturan kunjungan kawasan lindung.
SourcePanjat Monolit 'Parrot's Beak' (opsional)
SourceClimbing Experiences
Experiences on Pico de Loro are dominated by a day hike from the Ternate/Maragondon trailhead through forest to the summit, with an optional scramble up the standing 'Parrot's Beak' monolith for a dramatic view. Many vlogs stress its accessibility from Metro Manila, the comparatively short but sweaty trail, and the thrill of scrambling the monolith without fixed protection — the most challenging and riskiest part. English and Filipino accounts detail protected-area registration logistics, trail conditions, and caution on the exposed monolith top.
