Description
Mount Pelion East is a 1,461-metre dolerite peak in Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania, Australia. Its rocky summit tower rises above alpine slopes near Pelion Gap, the Overland Track junction for side trips to Pelion East and Mount Ossa. Walkers cross vegetated slopes before reaching rock that requires hands-on scrambling and attention to fall exposure. Patrick Lam recorded a return trip of just over two hours from Pelion Gap; this was his party’s experience, not a guaranteed walking time. Another approach to the Pelion area follows the Arm River Track via Lake Ayr. Access arrangements, weather and remaining daylight need consideration separately from the decision to climb the summit rock.

Routes
Akses via Arm River Track ke Pelion Hut
Pendekatan bermalam; scrambling pada puncak Pelion EastThe 2015 account approaches Pelion Hut along the Arm River Track via Lake Price and Lake Ayr. On day two the party continues through Pelion Gap to climb Ossa and Pelion East, then walks out on day three. This is a historical itinerary example; access-road conditions, permissions and facilities require a fresh check and cannot be inferred from the old report.

Scrambling terekspos pada bagian puncakFrom Pelion Gap, follow the trail onto Pelion East’s slopes and locate the cairns before the summit rock. The first-hand account describes a few climbing moves with serious fall consequences. Return along the same route to the junction. One party’s recorded time is not a standard for every walker; allow time for the onward hut journey.
SourceClimbing Experiences
This collection distinguishes dedicated Pelion East ascent videos from vlogs providing broader Overland Track context. Patrick Lam’s first-hand account adds summit-rock scrambling, cairn finding and time management before continuing to Kia Ora. Two dedicated Pelion East videos complement the side-trip context, while the Pelion–Kia Ora stage vlog documents a rainy journey. A particular party’s timings and the weather shown in a video do not predict conditions on a later visit.
