Description
Mount Mitchell is a twin-peaked volcanic mountain about 1,168 metres high in the Main Range of Queensland's Scenic Rim, immediately south of Cunninghams Gap and roughly 100 km southwest of Brisbane. Together with Mount Cordeaux across the Cunningham Highway, the two are the twin 'sentinels' flanking the gap; the mountain's Aboriginal name is Coonyinirra. The roughly 10.2 km return track starts at The Crest, climbing steeply up the northern flank through eucalypt forest, rainforest and montane heath, rounding the West Peak (about 1,162 m) to the saddle between the peaks, then ending on a knife-edge ridge above a sheer cliff at the East Peak (about 1,175 m). The summit opens to views over the Fassifern and Millar Vale Creek valleys and Scenic Rim peaks such as Maroon, Lindesay, Barney and Ballow. Part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, it is rated among the best day hikes in the Main Range.

Routes
Mount Mitchell track (dari The Crest, Cunninghams Gap)
SourceClimbing Experiences
First-hand accounts of Mount Mitchell (Queensland) describe one of the best day hikes in the Main Range — steep but rewarding. Recurring themes: a steady climb from The Crest through eucalypt forest and rainforest, rounding the West Peak to the saddle, then a narrow ridge above a sheer cliff at the East Peak with sweeping Scenic Rim views. Many vlogs pair it with Mount Cordeaux across the gap. Sources stress care at the East Peak cliff edge, carrying enough water, and crossing the Cunningham Highway safely at the trailhead.
