Description
Mount Lu (庐山, Lushan; highest peak Hanyang/Dahanyang, 1,474 m) is a fault-block mountain in northern Jiangxi Province, rising near the confluence of the Yangtze River and Poyang Lake. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 as a cultural landscape, Lushan has inspired classical Chinese poetry and painting for over a millennium — from Li Bai's waterfall verse to the lines of Su Shi — and shelters the White Deer Grotto Academy and Donglin Temple (Pure Land Buddhism). It is famed for a near-perpetual sea of clouds, dramatic cliffs, and the ~155 m Three-Step Waterfall (Sandie) at the foot of the Five Old Men Peaks. Above 1,000 m sits the hilltop retreat town of Guling (Kuling), a historic colonial-era summer resort, and a remarkable cluster of Buddhist, Daoist, Confucian and Christian sites that make Lushan both a natural and a spiritual landmark. Its cloud-and-mist (yunwu) tea is also celebrated.

Routes
Jalur Air Terjun Tiga Tingkat (Sandie / 三叠泉)
Berat — turun ribuan anak tangga batu ke air terjun lalu menanjak kembali; kereta gantung tersedia untuk memangkas jarakThe iconic East Line route to the Three-Step (Sandie) Waterfall, which drops ~155 m at the foot of the Five Old Men (Wulao) Peaks. Visitors descend a long stone stairway to the base of the falls, and the real challenge is the climb back up thousands of steps. A cable car is available to shorten the trip. Water flow is heaviest in spring (May–June).

Mudah–menengah — jalur tebing tertata dengan banyak titik pandang dekat GulingA western-side circuit stringing together Lushan's classic viewpoints: Ruqin Lake, Jinxiu Valley, Xianren (Immortal's) Cave — tied to the Lü Dongbin legend — Datianchi, and Longshou Cliff. The route follows well-built cliffside paths with sea-of-clouds and steep-cliff panoramas, relatively easy and well suited to combining with an overnight in Guling town.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Exploring Mount Lu is closer to cultural mountain sightseeing than technical climbing: visitors ride up to the summit area and Guling town by bus/cable car, then follow well-built stone paths along two trail loops (East Line & West Line) to reach cliffs, caves, lakes and waterfalls. Travel footage shows the sea of clouds wrapping the peaks, the ~155 m Three-Step (Sandie) Waterfall, and Lushan's signature mist. The most demanding part is descending and re-climbing the thousands of steps on the Sandie waterfall route. Most sources stress choosing the right season, as fog and crowds can strongly shape the experience.
