Yes — volcano
Coordinates
44.6743, -121.7996
Difficulty
Best Season
Puncak musim: pertengahan Juli–September (jalur bebas salju, cuaca lebih stabil)
Permits & Rules
Berada di Mount Jefferson Wilderness (Willamette/Deschutes NF, US Forest Service). Sejak 2021 kawasan populer (mis. Jefferson Park via Whitewater) memerlukan Central Cascades Wilderness Permit berkuota untuk masuk harian/menginap; ikuti aturan Leave No Trace.
Hazards
Bagian atas menuntut keterampilan mountaineering & tali.

Description

Mount Jefferson is a stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the second-highest mountain in Oregon (≈ 3,199 m), set within the Mount Jefferson Wilderness. Because its surroundings are so rugged and remote, it is considered one of the hardest Cascade volcanoes to reach — yet it remains popular for hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, and photography. Its main draw is Jefferson Park, a lake-dotted alpine meadow on the north flank reached via the Whitewater trail or the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). The summit climb is far more serious: it crosses glaciers and finishes on a loose rock pinnacle demanding technical skill. Indigenous names for the peak include Seekseekqua.

Routes

Jefferson Park via Whitewater Trail

Menengah — jalur hiking, sebagian menembus zona hutan terbakar
Day hike panjang atau backpacking 1–2 malam (± 16–19 km PP)

Pendakian puncak (via Whitewater/South Ridge & gletser)

Sulit/teknis — kelas 4–5, gletser bercelah & pinnacle batuan lepas
1–2 hari (summit push teknis)

Pendekatan Pacific Crest Trail (PCT)

Menengah — jalur punggung, jarak jauh & terpencil

Climbing Experiences

Footage of Mount Jefferson splits into two: scenic backpacking to Jefferson Park (via Whitewater/PCT) and a far more serious technical summit climb. The verified videos below show the approach through burn zones and alpine meadows, glacier conditions, the pull to the west ridge, and the loose summit pinnacle and solo ski descents — a full picture of the mountain’s activity spectrum.
