Description

Hasan Dağı (Mount Hasan, ~3,253 m) is a stratovolcano in central Anatolia, Turkey, rising about 1 km above the surrounding volcanic plateau near the city of Aksaray, at the southwestern edge of the Cappadocia region. It has two summits — the eastern Küçük Hasandağ (Small Hasan) at ~3,069 m and the western Büyük Hasandağ (Big Hasan) at ~3,253 m — separated by several calderas. Its volcanism began in the Miocene and continued into the Holocene, and its foothills are entwined with early human history: a mural at the archaeological site of Çatalhöyük has been controversially interpreted as depicting a volcanic eruption, or even as a primitive map. In Byzantine times, Hasan Dağı served as a link in the beacon-fire chain that warned Constantinople of incursions during the Arab–Byzantine wars. Today it is a popular objective for Turkish mountaineers: the standard route from Helvadere village climbs through scree fields to the col between the two summits, requiring no technical equipment in summer, while in winter it becomes a snow ascent.

Routes

The most common route up Büyük Hasandağ (~3,253 m) starts from Helvadere village on the northwest side, near Aksaray. From the village the trail climbs through alpine meadows, then enters volcanic scree toward the col between the Small and Big Hasan summits before following the final ridge to the highest point. Some climbers pitch camp on the slopes to break the ascent and catch sunrise over the Cappadocia plain. In summer the route requires no technical gear, but loose scree and fast-changing summit weather demand fitness and preparation. In winter the same line becomes a snow ascent requiring crampons and an ice axe.

Variasi musim dingin (pendakian salju)

Pendakian salju/es — memerlukan crampon, kapak es, dan pengalaman musim dingin
1–2 hari (lebih lambat karena salju dalam)

In winter, Hasan Dağı is a popular snow-climbing objective in central Anatolia. The line essentially follows the standard northwest route, but the scree slopes are buried under deep snow, demanding crampons, an ice axe, and avalanche judgement. Summit conditions can be very windy and cold, and sudden fog demands navigation skills. This route is recommended only for climbers with winter mountaineering experience.

Climbing Experiences

Hasan Dağı (~3,253 m), a twin-summited stratovolcano in central Anatolia near Aksaray, is one of the most popular 3,000ers among Turkish mountaineers. The standard route from Helvadere village crosses scree fields to the col and the Büyük Hasandağ summit — non-technical in summer and a snow ascent in winter. The records below combine real climbing footage from various seasons with English-language written trip reports and route descriptions (prominent-mountains.no, Discover Cappadocia).
