Description

Harmukh is a Himalayan massif in Kashmir, India, with several summits above the Gangabal Lake area. This profile uses Wikidata’s 5,142 m elevation for the eastern main summit; some sources give different figures. Lake treks reach the mountain’s base, while summit climbs require alpine skills. An American Alpine Journal report distinguishes the 5,080 m central summit reached in 2023 from the main summit.

Routes

Couloir barat–puncak tengah (rute 2023)

Pendakian alpine teknis

Historical route record: approach from Kudar toward Sarbal, then the west couloir and ridge to the 5,080 m central summit. This is neither a trekking trail nor a route to the eastern main summit.

Naranag–Gangabal (trek kaki Harmukh)

Trek dengan bagian tanjakan curam

From Naranag, the trek reaches Gangabal Lake at Harmukh’s base. Its destination is the lake, not a mountain summit; Wikipedia describes steep sections without providing a reliable duration.

Climbing Experiences

Five videos introduce the Gangabal area, Harmukh scenery and the view from Zaj Pass. They do not establish a summit ascent. The AAJ report adds a documented technical climb of the central summit in 2023.
