Description
Mount Greville (720 m) is a cone-shaped, deeply fissured peak in the Scenic Rim of South East Queensland, about 100 km south-west of Brisbane and just outside the town of Boonah. It sits within Moogerah Peaks National Park alongside Mount Edwards, Mount Moon and Mount French, all erosional remnants of an ancient volcanic complex. Its real draw is not the summit itself but two dramatic gorges that slice into the mountain — Palm Gorge and Waterfall Gorge — both lush with cabbage-tree palms and ferns. The classic ascent climbs the rocky South East Ridge, scrambling between grass-trees, then descends through one of the gorges to form a circuit of roughly 6 km. The slopes and summit open up views over the southern Fassifern valley, Lake Moogerah and the Main Range peaks including Mount Barney, Mount Maroon and Mount Edwards. Park authorities stress the walk is for experienced bushwalkers only: the tracks are rough and unmarked, there are sheer cliffs, and the rock becomes dangerously slippery after rain.

Routes
Sirkuit Palm Gorge (naik South East Ridge, turun Palm Gorge)
Sulit (kelas 4) — hanya pendaki berpengalamanThe classic route climbs the rocky South East Ridge — scree at the bottom with a few cairns, then rock slabs to scramble between grass-trees to the summit — and descends through Palm Gorge, lush with cabbage-tree palms and ferns. The track is unmarked and needs navigation; the park stresses it is for experienced walkers because of sheer cliffs and slippery rock.

Sulit (kelas 4) — scrambling & navigasiA circuit variant taking in Waterfall Gorge with its small watercourse and seasonal pools, usually combined with the South East Ridge. The terrain is rock scrambling and slippery palm-strewn gorge floors, with viewpoints such as Slab Rock looking toward Lake Moogerah and the Main Range peaks.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Mount Greville is popular among South East Queensland bushwalkers precisely for its two palm-filled gorges and the South East Ridge scramble, not for its height. The sources below are specific to this walk: several first-person ascent vlogs through Palm Gorge/Waterfall Gorge and the south-east ridge, one clip from the official Scenic Rim tourism channel, plus two bushwalking databases detailing distance, grade, navigation and hazards.
