Description
Mount Geryon (1,509 m) is a cliff-faced dolerite tower with three peaks that forms one of Tasmania's most spectacular — and most demanding — mountain backdrops. Rising in the Du Cane Range at the heart of Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park, Geryon looms over The Labyrinth, an expanse of turquoise tarns ringed by strangely sculpted peaks. This is no casual bushwalk but a genuine mountain adventure for experienced people. The easiest route, and the only one with a proper trail, is to the northern peak (Geryon North), yet it still demands a long approach based at Pine Valley Hut and scrambling over steep, exposed terrain requiring solid fitness and experience. For climbers there is the famous Geryon Traverse: a series of climbs and abseils over all three peaks. To reach the base, walkers cross from the Lake St Clair Visitor Centre — 17 km along the lake shore or by ferry to Narcissus Hut and on into Pine Valley. Its wild beauty and steepness make Geryon both a dream and a test; the changeable plateau weather and remoteness demand serious preparation.

Routes
Geryon North via The Labyrinth (dari Pine Valley Hut)
SourceGeryon Traverse (tiga puncak) — teknis
SourceClimbing Experiences
Accounts of Mount Geryon split into two notes: the wild beauty of the Du Cane Range as a backdrop, and the seriousness of the climb as a mountain. Many vlogs feature multi-day Du Cane traverses — long journeys through Pine Valley and The Labyrinth — with Geryon as the most coveted peak along the way. Walkers stress that only the northern peak (Geryon North) has a trail, and even that demands steep, exposed scrambling; climbers, meanwhile, talk about the famous Geryon Traverse with its series of climbs and abseils over the three peaks. Other recurring themes are the remoteness, off-track navigation across the tarn plateau, and Tasmania's plateau weather that can turn dramatically — all demanding real alpine experience.
