Description
Mount Emei (峨眉山, Éméishān; ~3,099 m) is the highest of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China, on the western rim of the Sichuan Basin near Emeishan City (part of Leshan), Sichuan Province. A Buddhist pilgrimage centre for centuries, its slopes are dotted with temples, monasteries, and statuary — its summit, the Golden Summit (Jinding, ~3,079 m), is famed for a giant Samantabhadra statue, seas of clouds, 'Buddha's Light' (an optical halo phenomenon), and sunrise. The surrounding country is geologically known as the Emeishan Large Igneous Province, the remnant of vast basalt eruptions in the Permian Period, though the mountain itself is no longer volcanically active. The classic pilgrimage trail runs about 48 km up tens of thousands of stone steps from Baoguo Temple (~500 m) via the Qingyin Pavilion — where the trail forks and the wild-monkey zone begins — Wannian Temple, Xixiang Chi (Elephant Bathing Pool), up to Leidongping and Jinding, usually walked over 2–3 days. A fast alternative uses a sightseeing bus to Leidongping and then the cable car to the Golden Summit. Mount Emei was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 (together with the nearby Leshan Giant Buddha).

Routes
Bus + Kereta Gantung ke Puncak Emas
Ringan (mayoritas berkendara, sedikit jalan kaki)A fast, popular option: take a sightseeing bus from Baoguo Temple bus station to Leidongping (~1–1.5 hours' drive), then a short walk to Jieyin Hall and the Jinding cable car up to the Golden Summit. From the upper station it is about a 15-minute uphill walk to the top. A common itinerary: bus + cable car for sunrise at Jinding, then descend and walk the lower section via Wannian and the monkey zone for those who still want some trail time.

Berat (puluhan ribu anak tangga, beda tinggi sangat besar)The classic on-foot climb from Baoguo Temple (~500 m), ascending almost continuous stone steps via Qingyin Pavilion (where the trail splits and the wild monkey zone begins), Wannian Temple, then up past Xixiang Chi (Elephant Bathing Pool) and Leidongping (~2,500 m) to the Golden Summit/Jinding (~3,079 m). The route totals about 48 km with tens of thousands of stone steps (often cited as ~50,000–60,000) and thousands of metres of gain; usually done over 2–3 days, overnighting at temples or guesthouses along the way.
