Description
Mount Buller (1,805 m) is an alpine peak in the Victorian Alps, part of Australia's Great Dividing Range. Better known as a winter ski resort, in the green season it becomes a hiking destination with a short Summit Nature Walk to the top plus several longer alpine routes. The summit gives wide panoramas toward The Bluff and the Victorian Alps, and the area includes protected mountain pygmy-possum habitat. Easy access from the resort village makes it one of Victoria's most popular alpine summits.

Routes
Mount Buller Traverse (via West Ridge)
Grade 4 (berat)A demanding ~20 km alpine circuit in the Alpine National Park following the steep West Ridge with sustained climbs and rock-scrambling up to the Mt Buller summit, with over 1,300 m of ascent. The descent runs via McLaughlin Shoulder onto the gentler Klingsporn Bridle Track. For experienced, fit hikers only; conditions can be severe in both summer and winter.
SourceSummit Nature Walk
Pemula / mudahA loop from the village area (around the Clock Tower/Arlberg) up to the Mt Buller summit at 1,805 m, through heathland and snowgum glades with interpretive signs on alpine flora and fauna. The final push to the true summit is a short, steep, rocky climb rewarding walkers with panoramas toward The Bluff and back over the village. It passes through mountain pygmy-possum habitat.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Accounts of Mount Buller split between summer summit hikes and winter activity. For hiking, the short Summit Nature Walk to the 1,805 m top is discussed most, while fitter walkers tackle the steep West Ridge. Almost all highlight the easy access from the resort village and the wide Victorian Alps panorama from the summit.
