Description

Mount Apo (2,954 m) — Apo Sandawa in Bagobo — is the Philippines' highest peak, straddling Davao del Sur and North Cotabato in Mindanao. The area is a National Park (Republic Act 9237) rich in biodiversity: mossy forests, alpine meadows, a crater lake, and active sulfuric fumaroles. Three main trails — Kidapawan (north), Sta. Cruz (southwest), and Kapatagan (south) — all require 3 days/2 nights and a DENR permit. Best December–May; closed June–August for ecological rehabilitation.

Routes

Jalur Kapatagan (Selatan) — lebih pendek, lebih curam

The Kapatagan trail from De Sander jump-off, Brgy. Sibulan, Digos City is the shortest approach to Tinikaran Camp (~5.8 km, ~2,100 m) among the main trails, but compensates with a steeper gradient. Popular with repeat climbers wanting a faster ascent. Lake Venado is reachable as a second camp. The June–August ecological closure applies to this trail as well.
