Description

Mount Adamello (3,539 m) is the eponymous peak of the Adamello-Presanella Alps in northern Italy, straddling the border between Lombardy (Valcamonica, Province of Brescia) and Trentino. It rises above the Pian di Neve, a broad ice plateau of the Adamello glacier — the largest glacier lying entirely within Italian territory (over 1,600 hectares). It was first climbed on 16 September 1864 by Julius von Payer with the Val Rendena guide Girolamo Botteri. Though technically elementary, the normal route is a long and arduous glacier walk: from the Rifugio Garibaldi over the Passo Brizio, then across the vast Pian di Neve roped up and on crampons. A popular alternative is the Terzulli via ferrata from the Rifugio Gnutti in Val Miller. The Adamello massif is also steeped in First World War history: the front of the 'White War' (Guerra Bianca) between Italian and Austro-Hungarian forces ran across these heights, with positions held year-round on the ice and snow.

Routes

Via ferrata Terzulli dari Rifugio Gnutti (Val Miller)

Berat (via ferrata + gletser): bagian berbatu ber-tali baja lalu lintasan gletser menuju puncak
1–2 hari (banyak yang menuntaskan 'in giornata' dari Rifugio Gnutti; puncak p.p. panjang)

A popular alternative from the Val Miller side. From the Rifugio Gnutti the route climbs the Terzulli via ferrata — a cabled rock section — then joins glacier terrain to the 3,539 m summit. It demands via-ferrata gear (kit, helmet) as well as glacier equipment (crampons, ice axe, rope).

Climbing Experiences

Climbing Monte Adamello (3,539 m) is glacier mountaineering across the Pian di Neve, the largest glacier lying entirely within Italy. Two approaches dominate climbers' footage: the normal route from the Rifugio Garibaldi over the Passo Brizio, and the Terzulli via ferrata from the Rifugio Gnutti in Val Miller. These videos highlight roped glacier crossings, the 360° summit panorama, and the increasingly visible retreat of the ice.
