Description
Morne Seychellois (905 m) is the highest point in Seychelles, rising on Mahé Island within Morne Seychellois National Park — the country's largest national park. Unlike most oceanic islands, the inner Seychelles rest on ancient granite, so the peak is a granitic massif cloaked in misty montane forest and endemic vegetation rather than a volcano. Despite its modest height, the summit climb is known to be quite challenging: the trail is often overgrown, slippery, and not always clearly marked, making it easy to lose the way, so a local guide is strongly advised. From its ridges and summit, clear weather opens views over the capital Victoria, the Mahé coast, and the surrounding Indian Ocean.
