Information
- Elevation
- 635 m
- Country
- Seychelles (SC)
- Location / Range
- Volcanic?
- No (non-volcanic)
- Coordinates
- -4.6500, 55.4333
- Difficulty
- Menengah — jalur pendek (sekitar 1 km sekali jalan) tetapi menanjak terus-menerus dengan beda tinggi sekitar 230–270 m, banyak anak tangga tinggi dan akar
- Best Season
Description
Morne Blanc is one of the most popular peaks on Mahé, Seychelles, and the island's signature short hike inside Morne Seychellois National Park — the country's largest terrestrial park, about 3,045 hectares, established in 1979. Unlike most tropical Indian Ocean islands, the inner Seychelles are not volcanic: Morne Blanc is built of ancient granite, its steep cliff face turned toward the west coast and cloaked in frequently misty montane rainforest. Wikidata records its elevation as 635 m, while other sources including the French Wikipedia and local hiking guides cite 667 m. The summit stands roughly 1.5 km south of Morne Seychellois, the highest point in Seychelles. The trailhead sits beside the Sans Soucis road right by the Tea Factory, making it an easy trip from Victoria. From there the path climbs steeply for about a kilometre through humid forest full of ferns, moss-covered trees and tangled roots, with stone steps, wooden walkways and rope handrails on the hardest sections. The return trip typically takes one to two hours. The reward is a wooden viewing platform on the cliff edge with sweeping views over Port Glaud, Port Launay Bay, Baie Ternay Marine Park, Therese and Conception islands, and the open Indian Ocean. The area is also ecologically important: the endemic carnivorous pitcher plant Nepenthes pervillei grows along the granite rim near the top, and Morne Blanc's slopes are the only place on earth where the critically endangered endemic insect Anisolabis seychellensis is found, occupying roughly 5 km². Endemic birds such as the Seychelles sunbird and Seychelles swiftlet are often seen along the trail, while tea plantations surround the mountain's cultivated lower slopes.

Routes
Climbing Experiences
Recorded Morne Blanc trips follow much the same pattern: start at the Sans Soucis roadside near the Tea Factory, climb steeply for about a kilometre through misty rainforest, and finish at a wooden viewing deck facing Port Glaud and Mahé's west coast. The videos and trip reports below show the trail conditions — stone steps, slick roots, rope handrails — and the panorama of islets and lagoons from the top. All links verified live.
