Description

Monte Resegone (1,875 m at Punta Cermenati) is an iconic mountain rising above the town of Lecco in Lombardy, on the border between the provinces of Lecco and Bergamo. Its name comes from the dialect word for a 'big saw' (resega)—a nod to its serrated summit ridge of tooth-like peaks. It is the symbol of Lecco and was immortalised in the Italian classic novel The Betrothed (I Promessi Sposi) by Alessandro Manzoni. The most popular route starts from Piani d'Erna—reached by cable car from Lecco—and follows the path to Rifugio Azzoni perched near the summit, usually around 3 hours. Hikers also climb from Brumano, Morterone or directly from the valley, gaining over 1,200 m. From the top, the panorama sweeps from Lake Como and the Prealps to, on a clear day, Monte Rosa and the Alps.

No significant technical difficulty, but still long; starting from the valley floor the gain can exceed 1,200 m. The panorama spans Lake Como and the Prealps to the Alps on a clear day.
