Description

Monte Civetta (3,220 m) is one of the most majestic massifs in the Dolomites, rising above Lake Alleghe and the Val di Zoldo in Veneto. Its north-west face, soaring almost 1,000 metres, is nicknamed the 'Parete delle pareti' (the wall of walls) and has been a big-wall climbing mecca since the legendary Solleder–Lettenbauer route was opened in 1925 — a milestone of grade-VI alpinism. For mountaineers, the classic route to the summit is the Via Ferrata degli Alleghesi, one of the longest and most exposed ferratas in the Dolomites, descended via the Via Normale to Rifugio Torrani. All around it, the Giro della Civetta links beautiful mountain huts (Coldai, Tissi, Vazzoler) into a multi-day trek with unrivalled views of the west face, including Lake Coldai mirroring the wall.

Routes

Giro della Civetta (trek pengelilingan)

Trek menengah — jalur bertanda dengan tanjakan, sebagian terekspos
2–4 hari (loop rifugio: Coldai – Tissi – Vazzoler)

A multi-day trek circling the Civetta massif, linking beautiful huts — Coldai, Tissi, and Vazzoler — beneath the nearly 1,000-metre west face (the 'wall of walls'). The route passes Lake Coldai mirroring the cliff, alpine meadows, and panoramic viewpoints. Gentler than the summit ferrata, it suits hikers who want to enjoy Civetta's scale without climbing to the top.

Via Ferrata degli Alleghesi (ke puncak) + turun Via Normale

Via ferrata sulit — panjang & sangat terekspos, butuh set ferrata & pengalaman
1–2 hari (menginap di Rifugio Coldai/Tissi atau Torrani)

The classic route to the summit of Civetta (3,220 m). The Via Ferrata degli Alleghesi is one of the longest and most exposed ferratas in the Dolomites, climbing the north-east face on a series of ladders and steel cables to the top, then descending to Rifugio Torrani via the Via Normale (a marked route with easy scrambling). It needs a full via ferrata set, a head for exposure, and stamina; it is often broken up with a hut overnight.

Climbing Experiences

Experiences on Monte Civetta split in two: a summit climb via the Via Ferrata degli Alleghesi — one of the longest and most exposed ferratas in the Dolomites — and the encircling Giro della Civetta trek linking beautiful huts beneath the west face. Videos show long ladder pitches, exposed ridges, and views of Lake Coldai and Lake Alleghe. For those who don't want to climb, the trails beneath the wall still offer one of the grandest rock faces in the Alps.
