Description
Marojejy is a montane rainforest massif in the Sava region of northeastern Madagascar, forming the heart of Marojejy National Park (55,500 ha) and part of the UNESCO 'Rainforests of the Atsinanana' World Heritage Site (2007). Its chain of peaks rises to 2,132 m, producing a dramatic vegetation gradient from lowland rainforest through mossy cloud forest to wind-swept summit scrub. It is celebrated for endemic biodiversity — above all the silky sifaka (simpona), one of the rarest lemurs — plus chameleons, frogs and orchids. For trekkers, Marojejy offers one of Madagascar's most challenging and rewarding rainforest climbs: a multi-day, steep ascent through three camps to the summit, with views of granite cliffs and endless canopy. Originally a strict nature reserve (1952), it opened to the public as a national park in 1998.

Routes
Lanjutan ke Camp Simpona (hutan awan)
BeratContinuation from Camp Marojejia up a very steep trail to Camp Simpona (~1,250 m) in the cloud forest, used as basecamp for the summit hike. The Camp Simpona cabins are now damaged, so it is tent camping only.
SourceTrek Puncak Marojejy (klasik 3 hari / 2 malam)
Berat / menantangClassic route from Manantenina village (~175 m) climbing via Camp Mantella/Camp 1 (~486 m), Camp Marojejia/Camp 2 (~744 m), and Camp Simpona/Camp 3 (~1,250–1,326 m) as basecamp, then a very steep summit push to Marojejy Est at 2,132 m. The Camp 2–3 section is demanding; the summit is often cloud-covered so a pre-dawn start is advised, and the trail can be impassable in heavy rain.
SourceTrek Satwa / Silky Sifaka (Mantella–Marojejia, tanpa puncak)
SedangShorter route up to Camp Mantella (Camp 1) and Camp Marojejia (Camp 2), where silky sifakas are most often found with a 'simpona' tracker. Ideal for those wanting lemurs and rainforest without the far more strenuous summit push.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Marojejy is one of Madagascar's most challenging rainforest treks — a steep, multi-day climb through three camps (Mantella, Marojejia, Simpona) to the 2,132 m summit. Hiker accounts emphasize the near-vertical stretch between Camp 2 and Camp 3, wild root-and-mud trails, leeches in the wet, and rain and cloud that often shroud the summit. The main draw is the silky sifaka (simpona), a critically endangered white lemur tracked with a specialist guide, amid an ecosystem gradient from lowland rainforest through cloud forest to summit heath.
