Description

Mount Manglayang (about 1,818 m) is a forested mountain at the eastern edge of the Bandung basin in West Java, on the border of Bandung with Sumedang, and part of the 'Seven Summits of Greater Bandung'. Although it is the lowest of the mountains ringing Bandung, Manglayang is a popular city-adjacent climbing destination — especially for tektok (up-and-down) hikes — thanks to easy access from the Batu Kuda forest park in Cibiru Wetan. The Batu Kuda trail cuts through dense forest with rooty, rocky ascents past three posts to the summit in about 1.5 to 2 hours. The summit is a flat, shaded forest clearing; before Post 1 there is a viewpoint over the city of Bandung. Because there is no water source along the trail, hikers must carry enough water.

Routes

Via Barubeurem / Palintang

Menengah

Via Batu Kuda (jalur utama)

Menengah — ramah pemula tapi banyak tanjakan berakar-batu

Climbing Experiences

Documentation of Mount Manglayang climbs mostly follows the Batu Kuda route from the Batu Kuda forest park in Cibiru Wetan — the most popular trail because it is close to the city and relatively quick (about 1.5 to 2 hours). Videos emphasise rooty, rocky ascents past three posts, dense forest, and tektok experiences including night hikes. Some creators cover costs and logistics, warning about the lack of water sources on the trail, while others show a more extreme cliff-side variant for experienced climbers. Blog write-ups add post-by-post experiences and tips for beginners.
