An Austrian team first climbed the main summit on 23 August 1971. The Swiss Alpine Club dates a repeat ascent to 19 August 1997; 1998 is the report publication year, not the climbing year. Expedition archives describe demanding terrain and weather but do not establish a complete count of ascents to the present. The Rush Lake trek offers views of the mountain without reaching its summit.

Routes

Polan La–dataran tinggi–punggung timur laut (rute historis)

Sangat berat / ekstrem — 7000-an bersalju & terpapar
Ekspedisi dengan kamp tinggi; tanpa estimasi waktu baku

The 1997 expedition followed Chogolungma to Polan La, a mixed ridge, the high plateau and the northeast ridge. Five high camps supported the attempt. This documents a historical line, not a navigation guide or current conditions.

Climbing Experiences

Malubiting accounts cover the Polish attempt in 1969, the Austrian first ascent in 1971, and the 1997 repeat reported in 1998. The Rush Lake trek account describes viewing the mountain from a distance, not climbing its summit. These narratives highlight logistics, weather and turnaround decisions; the available archives are not a complete ascent register.
