Description
Machapuchare ('fish tail', known as Fishtail) is a 6,993-metre peak in the Annapurna Himal of Nepal, one of the most recognizable mountain silhouettes in the Himalayas. Considered sacred (associated with Shiva), climbing to its summit has been prohibited since a 1957 expedition stopped just short, so it remains officially unclimbed. It is a non-volcanic orogenic peak.

Routes
Trek Mardi Himal (Jalur Punggung Bukit Terbuka)
MenengahA ridge-line trek from Kande to Siding (4–6 days), reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4,500 m. Distinctive feature: trekkers walk an exposed ridge with Machapuchare's Fishtail twin summit at near-eye-level from Low Camp (3,550 m) onward — one of the most dramatic face-on views available. Less crowded than the ABC route.

Climbing Experiences
Machapuchare (Fishtail, 6,993 m) cannot be summit-climbed due to a Nepalese government ban since 1957. Trekkers approach via the Annapurna Base Camp trail, passing through Machapuchare Base Camp (3,700 m), and the Mardi Himal ridge offers dramatic face-on views from 4,000–4,500 m.
