Description
Lugnaquilla (925 m, from the Irish 'Log na Coille') is the highest peak of the Wicklow Mountains, the highest point of the Province of Leinster, and the highest Irish mountain outside County Kerry. Its summit is a broad grassy plateau known as 'Percy's Table', but its edges fall away into two dramatic cliff-rimmed corries nicknamed the North Prison and the South Prison — making navigation critical in mist. There are two main approaches: from Glenmalure to the east (via Baravore and Fraughan Rock Glen, the most scenic route) and from the Glen of Imaal to the west (the shortest route, but crossing an active military artillery range that requires checking the firing schedule). On a clear day the views reach across the whole of Wicklow, over Glendalough, out to the Irish Sea and even to the mountains of Wales. With a prominence of about 905 m, Lugnaquilla is both a Marilyn and a P600.

Routes
Glen of Imaal (Camarahill)
Menengah — rute terpendek, tetapi melintasi Zona Latihan Artileri Angkatan Darat IrlandiaThe shortest approach to the summit, climbing from the west via Camarahill. This route crosses the Irish Army's Glen of Imaal Artillery Range — you MUST check the firing schedule (red flags) before setting out and stay on the track because of unexploded-ordnance (UXO) hazards. Beyond the Camarahill ridge the path reaches the southern rim of the plateau near the South Prison; take care near the cliff edges in poor visibility.
SourceGlenmalure via Fraughan Rock Glen
Menengah — ~14 km, jalur panjang di lahan gambut terbuka; navigasi krusial saat kabutThe most scenic route to the summit, starting from the Baravore car park at the head of Glenmalure. The path follows the cliff-ringed Fraughan Rock Glen, climbing past a waterfall into a hanging valley, then up open slopes onto the summit plateau. The plateau edges drop sharply into the North Prison and South Prison, so in mist it is strongly advised to hold a compass bearing. The 'Percy's Table' summit offers wide views over Glendalough, the Glen of Imaal and the Irish Sea on a clear day.

Lugnaquilla (925 m), the highest peak of Leinster, is usually climbed from Glenmalure (the most scenic route via Fraughan Rock Glen) or from the Glen of Imaal (the shortest, crossing a military artillery range). The English-language videos below capture both approaches — including a 3D route guide — and Irish hiking sites give route details, timings and safety warnings about the military zone.
