Description
Lanín (~3,776 m; some sources list 3,747 m) is an ice-clad, cone-shaped stratovolcano straddling the Argentina–Chile border, between Lanín National Park (Neuquén) and Villarrica National Park (Araucanía). Its near-symmetrical profile makes it one of the icons of northern Patagonia and a popular climb from the town of Junín de los Andes. Although it last erupted roughly 1,500 years ago and is now fairly quiet, the ascent is no stroll: the normal north route starts near Lake Tromen via the Mamuil Malal Pass and crosses loose rock, snow and an upper ice slope with far greater exposure than its neighbouring volcanoes. Argentina's park authorities cap climber numbers, require registration at the ranger post, and generally mandate a guide and glacier gear. Two mountain refuges on the slope (around 2,400 m and 2,600 m) allow a two-day push so climbers can summit early before the wind builds.

Routes
Rute Selatan dari Danau Huechulafquen
BeratA south-side alternative via Lake Huechulafquen (Provincial Route 61). Quieter and demanding, it still requires national-park registration and glacier gear; suited to experienced climbers wanting a variation on the north route.
SourceRute Utara (Espina de Pescado) dari Paso Tromen
Berat (PD — campuran batu/salju/es)The normal and most popular route from the Argentine side. It starts near Lake Tromen / Mamuil Malal Pass (about 1,200 m), climbs the rocky 'fish-spine' ridge to refuges around 2,400 m and 2,600 m for the night, then makes an early summit push across snowfields and an upper ice slope. Ranger registration and usually a guide are required; a good weather window is decisive.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Lanín is usually climbed over two days from the Argentine side (Junín de los Andes / Tromen Pass), overnighting at a refuge before the summit push. Below are real, verified-live sources.
