Description
Lānaʻihale is the highest point of the island of Lānaʻi, Hawaii, at about 1,030 metres (3,380 ft). The island of Lānaʻi is essentially the remnant of an extinct shield volcano, and Lānaʻihale sits along the island's central ridge. The best-known way to the summit is the Munro Trail, a ridge-top dirt track of roughly 19–20 kilometres named after George Munro, the ranch manager who planted the ridge with Cook (Norfolk) pines in the early 20th century to harvest fog drip and capture water. The route can be walked, cycled, or driven by 4WD/UTV, passing through forest and an old caldera up to the high point. On a clear day the summit offers one of the finest panoramas in Hawaii — under ideal conditions five or six of the Hawaiian islands can be seen at once. Road conditions depend heavily on the weather and become slippery and muddy after rain.

Routes
Koloiki Ridge (varian singkat dari Munro Trail)
SedangA popular short walk sharing its start with the Munro Trail from The Lodge at Koele area, then branching at the tunnel-of-branches marker toward Koloiki Ridge. It passes through Cook pine and eucalyptus forest before ending at a ridge edge overlooking the Naio and Maunalei gulches meeting before the sea. A good option for those wanting the Lānaʻi ridge experience without the full Munro Trail push to Lānaʻihale.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Most documentation of Lānaʻihale centres on the Munro Trail, the ridge-top dirt track to the highest point of Lānaʻi. Many travel it by 4WD or UTV, while others walk or cycle it. Trip footage highlights the narrow ridge road with drop-offs on both sides, the rows of Cook pines planted by George Munro, and sweeping panoramas — on a clear day several Hawaiian islands are visible at once. Another recurring theme is how weather-dependent the road is: smooth when dry, but slippery and muddy after rain.
