Description

Králický Sněžník (1,423 m) — known as Śnieżnik in Poland and Glatzer Schneeberg in German — is the highest peak of the eponymous range in the Eastern Sudetes, right on the Czech–Polish border. Its summit is an open grassy dome forming the watershed between the Black Sea and the Baltic: the Morava River, one of Czechia's important rivers, rises on its slopes, and its spring (pramen Moravy) is a favourite hikers' goal. The peak holds snow for up to eight months a year. An observation tower stood here from 1899 to 1973 before being demolished; a small elephant-cub statue marks the summit, and a modern viewing tower has returned on the Czech side. The Czech side is protected as a National Nature Reserve, the Polish side as a landscape park. Popular trails climb from Dolní Morava (Czechia) past the Morava spring, or from Międzygórze (Poland) via the Na Śnieżniku mountain hut.

Routes

Dari Dolní Morava (Ceko) lewat mata air Morava (pramen Moravy)

Sedang (hiking non-teknis, jarak panjang)
±3–4 jam naik (sekali jalan)

The classic Czech-side route starts at Dolní Morava, passing through forest and by the iconic spring of the Morava River (pramen Moravy) before climbing to the open summit dome. The marked trail is non-technical but long, and the upper section is exposed to wind and fog. The summit holds a viewing tower and the little elephant-cub statue that marks the high point.

Dari Międzygórze (Polandia) lewat pondok Na Śnieżniku

Sedang (hiking non-teknis)
±3–3,5 jam naik (sekali jalan)

The popular Polish-side approach starts from the resort village of Międzygórze, following marked trails past the Schronisko na Śnieżniku mountain hut before the final climb to the summit, part of the 'Crown of Polish Mountains'. The route crosses forest and high meadows; conditions can be tough in snow, which lingers long here.

Climbing Experiences

Králický Sněžník / Śnieżnik (1,423 m) is a cross-border favourite for Czech and Polish hikers — an open grassy dome with the source of the Morava River and a viewing tower. The sources below document real ascents from both sides of the border: the Czech route from Dolní Morava and the Polish route from Międzygórze, with summit panoramas and the iconic elephant statue.
