Description
Koryaksky (Koryakskaya Sopka, 3,456 m) is an active stratovolcano on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, in clear view of the regional capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Together with neighbouring Avachinsky it is designated a Decade Volcano for its explosive eruption history and proximity to populated areas. As a climb it is far more technical than Avachinsky: the most popular route follows the south-east rib over glacier, snow and rockfall terrain, so crampons, ice axe and helmet are mandatory. The best climbing window is generally mid-April to early July while the terrain is still snow-covered, or peak summer from July to September.

Routes
Pendakian dari Celah Avacha / kamp Verblyud (opsi 1 hari)
Sangat berat: alpine bersalju/gletser, butuh perlengkapan teknis dan pemanduThe route starts from the tourist camp around 900 m near Verblyud ('Camel') rock on the Avacha pass — the same base used for Avachinsky. The one-day version starts before dawn with about 2,500 m of ascent; the two-day version sets an advanced camp around 2,000 m on day one and pushes to the summit on day two. Crampons, ice axe and rigid boots are mandatory, and it is usually run by guided operators from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
SourceRute Klasik Rusuk Tenggara (jalur paling sering didaki)
Grade alpine Rusia ~3A (rusuk tenggara klasik; varian lain di sisi tenggara berkisar 1B–3A)The most popular ascent follows the south-east rib (the classic Kopylov scheme) or a couloir to the left of the rib. Crampons, ice axe and helmet are needed year-round due to rockfall on the ribs and couloirs; rope, ice screws and snow anchors are advised on the highest section. Best season is mid-April to early July while the terrain is still snow-covered.
SourceSki-mountaineering (turunan couloir bersalju)
Ski curam untuk ski-mountaineer mahir/ahliKoryaksky offers ski-mountaineering with numerous couloirs and descent lines from near the summit, with vertical drops of up to about 2,700 m, popular for advanced ski/snowboard descents. An avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe are required.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Climbing Koryaksky is one of Kamchatka's most demanding alpine objectives. Unlike its relatively beginner-friendly neighbour Avachinsky, Koryaksky is technical: the classic line follows the south-east rib over glacier, snow couloirs and rockfall zones, so crampons, ice axe, helmet and often a rope with ice screws are required. The usual base is the tourist camp at the foot of the mountain near Verblyud ('Camel') rock on the Avacha pass at about 900 m, the same base used for Avachinsky. Much of the documentation comes from Russian mountaineering clubs and guided operators, along with drone footage showing the Koryaksky and Avachinsky cones from around Yelizovo/Petropavlovsk. Koryaksky is also popular for ski-mountaineering on its steep couloirs.
