Gletser Kolahoi juga terus menyusut akibat perubahan iklim, mengubah kondisi rute dari tahun ke tahun.
Description
Kolahoi Peak (5,425 m), known locally as Gwash Brari, is the highest mountain in the Kashmir Division and the dominant summit at the head of the Lidder Valley in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Part of the Great Himalayan Range, its sharp profile has earned it the nickname 'the Matterhorn of Kashmir'. Its base is guarded by the Kolahoi Glacier — the principal source of the Lidder River that feeds the Jhelum. For most visitors Kolahoi is a classic glacier trek that starts from Aru village near Pahalgam and threads the Lidderwat meadows and Satlanjan up to the glacier snout; reaching the true summit demands ice-climbing skill and technical terrain. The mountain holds cultural significance for local communities and has become a barometer of climate change as its glacier steadily retreats.

Routes
Pendakian puncak via Gletser Kolahoi (rute mendaki es/serac)
Sangat menantang / teknis (medan es, serac, dan rekahan; hanya untuk pendaki berpengalaman glasial)Reaching Kolahoi's true summit (5,425 m) requires a technical ascent from the glacier zone: navigating the seracs and crevasses of the Kolahoi Glacier and then climbing steep ice and rock to the sharp summit. This is not a trek but an alpine objective demanding ropes, crampons and experience in judging glacier hazards and fast-changing weather. Local climbers' footage shows just how serious the serac zone is, so summit attempts are generally undertaken only by experienced teams with adequate logistical support.
SourceTrek pendekatan Aru–Lidderwat–Satlanjan–Gletser Kolahoi
Trek menengah–berat (jalur panjang lembah tinggi menuju tepi gletser; belum termasuk puncak teknis)The classic approach to Kolahoi starts from Aru village near Pahalgam, following the Lidder Valley through the Lidderwat meadows and camping at Satlanjan before reaching the snout of the Kolahoi Glacier. The route crosses pine forest, alpine meadows and glacial rivers, with Kolahoi dominating the skyline at the head of the valley. Most visitors turn the glacier snout into their trek destination; continuing to the true summit demands ice-climbing skill and technical terrain above. Use a local guide/porter and carry cold-weather camping gear.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Kolahoi is rarely climbed to its true summit, yet its glacier trek from Aru near Pahalgam is one of Kashmir's most coveted alpine adventures. The experiences below — expedition vlogs, glacier-trek guides and drone perspectives — show first-hand the Lidderwat meadows, Satlanjan, the seracs and crevasses of the Kolahoi Glacier, and just how technical and serious the terrain becomes near the top.
