Description
Kedarkantha (3,810 m / 12,500 ft) is a trekking peak in the Garhwal Himalaya, Uttarkashi District, Uttarakhand, inside the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary — and one of India's most popular winter snow treks, especially for beginners. The classic route starts from Sankri village (~1,950 m), passing the Juda ka Talab lake/meadow, then the Kedarkantha Base Camp (~3,430 m), before a pre-dawn summit push to the summit ridge. It is about 20 km round trip, usually done in 4–6 days, with forests of pine, oak, rhododendron and deodar cloaked in snow in winter and sweeping views of the greater Garhwal peaks from the top. It is graded easy-to-moderate — the hardest part is only the steep, snowy final summit climb — making it a favourite entry point to Himalayan trekking. Because it lies within a wildlife sanctuary, trekkers must obtain a forest entry permit and a registered local guide arranged at Sankri; extreme cold and deep snow remain the main risks.

Routes
Rute Klasik Sankri — Juda ka Talab → Base Camp → Puncak (3.810 m)
Mudah–menengah, ramah pemula; bagian tersulit hanya tanjakan puncak terakhir yang curam & bersaljuThe classic Kedarkantha route starts from Sankri village (~1,950 m / 6,397 ft), the trek gateway in Uttarkashi District. The early days climb through pine, oak, rhododendron and deodar forest to the Juda ka Talab lake/meadow (~9,000 ft), then up to the Kedarkantha Base Camp (~3,430 m / 11,250 ft). The summit push goes pre-dawn along the ridge to the 3,810 m (12,500 ft) top, with base camp about 3 km from the summit. It is roughly 20 km round trip, usually done in 4–6 days (5 recommended for acclimatization). In winter (December–April) the trail is under deep snow, making it a popular beginner snow trek, while late March–April brings wildflowers. It is graded easy-to-moderate; the hardest part is only the steep final summit climb. The trail lies within the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, so a forest entry permit and a registered local guide (arranged at Sankri) are mandatory.
