Description

Jbel Saghro (Adrar Saghro) is a rugged, arid mountain range in southeastern Morocco forming the eastern end of the Anti-Atlas, south of the High Atlas and overlooking the Draa and Dades valleys. Shaped by ancient volcanism and erosion, it presents an almost lunar landscape of basalt spires, gorges and palm oases rather than the green valleys of the High Atlas. Its high point, Amalou n'Mansour (about 2,712 m), is a non-technical walk-up, and the region is the historic homeland of the Aït Atta Amazigh tribe. Saghro is popular as a mild winter trek when the High Atlas is snowbound.

Routes

Pendakian Amalou n'Mansour (5 hari / 4 malam)

Sedang (trekking dengan puncak non-teknis)
5 hari / 4 malam

A shorter itinerary focused on reaching the range's highest summit, Amalou n'Mansour (about 2,712 m). Days combine trekking through Saghro's volcanic landscapes and oases with a walk-up ascent of the peak, supported by a local guide and mules. It offers panoramic views over the Anti-Atlas toward the High Atlas and the Sahara. The ascent is non-technical but the terrain is rocky, exposed and remote.

Traverse Saghro Utara–Selatan (Alnif → Amalou n'Mansour → Ikniouen)

Sedang (trek gurun multi-hari, self-contained)
±6–8 hari

The classic full traverse crosses the massif from north to south, commonly starting near Alnif and passing the Bou Gafer area before reaching the culminating point of Amalou n'Mansour (about 2,712 m) and descending toward Ikniouen. It is a remote, self-contained trek with mule support, camping and long arid stages. Water is scarce and the route passes basalt spires, gorges and Aït Atta encampments. It is best undertaken in spring, autumn or winter.

Trek Saghro 6 Hari (Tagdilt → Bab n'Ali)

Sedang
6 hari

A popular circuit through the heart of the volcanic Saghro range, typically starting from Tagdilt near the Dades valley in the north. It winds through gorges, plateaus and oases and passes the iconic Bab n'Ali rock towers, camping among Aït Atta shepherd areas. The trek showcases the arid, sculpted geology that distinguishes Saghro from the greener High Atlas. It is well suited to winter and shoulder-season trekking.

Climbing Experiences

Jbel Saghro is a multi-day desert trekking destination in the Anti-Atlas — popular as a winter alternative when the High Atlas is snowbound. Hikers highlight the dramatic rock needles (aiguilles), the Bab n'Ali formations, oases, and the nomadic culture of the Aït Atta. The summit of Amalou n'Mansour (about 2,712 m) is a non-technical walk-up amid arid, empty landscapes.
