Description
Humphreys Peak (3,851 m / 12,633 ft) is the highest point in the state of Arizona, USA, and the main summit of the San Francisco Peaks—the remains of a large stratovolcano north of Flagstaff. Its summit lies within the Kachina Peaks Wilderness of the Coconino National Forest. The standard route (Humphreys Trail No. 151) starts at the Arizona Snowbowl ski area at about 2,800 m and covers roughly 15–16 km round trip with close to 1,000 m of gain, climbing from dense pine forest into open alpine tundra. The upper section passes several false summits and loose rock requiring some scrambling, while above the treeline strong wind and exposure are the main challenges. Afternoon thunderstorms are common during the late-summer monsoon, so an early start is advised. On a clear day the summit offers views as far as the Grand Canyon.

Berat (jalur panjang)A longer, more gradual alternative to the San Francisco Peaks ridge, following the historic Weatherford road grade before joining the summit area. Less travelled than the Humphreys Trail, it offers a more gradual but considerably longer approach.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Climbing Humphreys Peak (3,851 m), the roof of Arizona, is typically a demanding ~15–16 km round-trip day hike via the Humphreys Trail from Arizona Snowbowl, rising from pine forest into open alpine tundra. Trip reports stress starting at dawn to beat afternoon monsoon thunderstorms, the wind and exposure above the treeline, the several false summits and loose rock near the top, and the sweeping views as far as the Grand Canyon on clear days. The videos below cover a route guide, a summer ascent, and winter conditions.
