Routes
Ngarai Laut Barat (West Sea Grand Canyon)
Berat (tangga curam menempel tebing, banyak naik-turun)An additional circuit opened to the public in 2001, covering roughly 25 km² of narrow stairways clinging to cliff walls with deep canyon panoramas. Quieter and more demanding than the main routes; some hikers use a mini monorail at one end to reduce the climbing. A good add-on to the Western/Eastern Steps for those wanting wilder scenery.
SourceTangga Barat (Western Steps / Yuping–Cishan)
Berat (sekitar 14 km tangga, lebih panjang & menanjak)Huangshan's longer and most spectacular route, about 14 km with large elevation change; allow roughly 6–7 hours to ascend. It passes the iconic granite-cliff scenery and peaks such as Lotus Peak (Lianhua, highest point ~1,864 m) and Celestial Capital Peak. A common two-day plan is to climb up the Western Steps, overnight at a summit hotel for sunset and sunrise, then descend the Eastern Steps.
SourceTangga Timur (Eastern Steps / Yungu)
Sedang (tangga batu terus-menerus, lebih landai)Huangshan's most popular and comparatively easier route. From the eastern entrance near the Yungu cable car, the path climbs continuous stone steps to the summit area (around Bright Summit/Guangmingding ~1,860 m). Many hikers use it as the descent after ascending the Western Steps. The full on-foot climb takes roughly 2–3 hours; the Yungu cable car is also available to cut the time.
SourceClimbing Experiences
Hiking Huangshan (Yellow Mountain, highest point Lotus Peak ~1,864 m) in Anhui, China, famous for soaring granite peaks, seas of cloud, and thousands of stone steps carved into the cliffs. Most visitors ascend via the gentler Eastern Steps (Yungu) or the longer, more dramatic Western Steps (Yuping/Cishan), often combined with a cable car and an overnight at a summit hotel to catch the sunrise. The videos and guides below — in English and Mandarin — document real hikers' experiences: the stairway trails, the West Sea Grand Canyon, snowy winter conditions, and the sea of clouds and sunrise.
