- Country
- Amerika Serikat (Hawaii) (US)
- Location / Range
- Pulau Hawaiʻi (Big Island); lereng atas mengawasi kota Kailua-Kona
- Mountain type
- Gunung berapi perisai (shield volcano) aktif — gunung berapi paling barat, termuda ketiga, dan teraktif ketiga dari lima gunung berapi pembentuk Pulau Hawaiʻi
- Volcanic?
- Yes — volcano
- Coordinates
- 19.6922, -155.8672
- Difficulty
- Sedang secara fisik, tetapi aksesnya khusus: puncak dan lereng atas berada di tanah pribadi, jadi pendakian umumnya hanya lewat tur berpandu berizin, bukan jalur publik bebas
- Best Season
- Bisa sepanjang tahun mengikuti jadwal operator tur; medan lereng atas relatif kering dan sejuk
- Permits & Rules
Description
Hualālai (2,521 m) is an active shield volcano rising above Kailua-Kona on the western side of the Island of Hawaiʻi. It is the westernmost, third-youngest and third-most-active of the five volcanoes that build the Big Island, after Kīlauea and Mauna Loa. Its last eruption, in 1800–1801, sent lava all the way to the sea, and scientists expect Hualālai to erupt again within the next century or so. Unlike Hawaiʻi's national-park volcanoes, much of Hualālai's summit and upper slopes sit on private land, so climbing it is generally possible only through a licensed guided tour. Popular outings such as the "Hidden Craters Hike" lead through koa and ʻōhiʻa forest alive with endemic birdsong, past a series of side craters and into an ancient lava tube — a volcanic landscape few ordinary visitors ever see. Because of its restricted access and cultural meaning to Native Hawaiians, Hualālai is prized as a "hidden" yet historically important mountain.

Routes
Area puncak & kawah Hualālai (akses lewat operator / tanah pribadi)
SourceHidden Craters Hike (tur berpandu Hawaii Forest & Trail)
SourceClimbing Experiences
Because Hualālai's summit and upper slopes sit on private land, most shared experiences centre on guided tours — chiefly Hawaii Forest & Trail's "Hidden Craters Hike" — which take participants through three locked gates into koa and ʻōhiʻa forest, past a chain of side craters and into a lava tube. Vlogs and trip notes describe an outing of roughly 5–6 km with about 300 m of climb, open lava terrain, and Kona panoramas from nearly 2,400 m. Several creators also document the summit and crater area, stressing that legal access is only through a licensed operator or property, not a free hike.
