Hazards: Runtuhan batu dan retakan puncak; Bäumenheimer Weg ditutup. Sisa salju curam, kabut dan bagian berbatu terekspos juga dapat menyulitkan pendekatan utara.

Description

Hochvogel is a 2,592 m dolomite peak in the Allgäu Alps on the Germany–Austria border. DAV Donauwörth explains that the southern Bäumenheimer Weg has been closed since September 2014 because of rockfall danger; it is not part of the northern approach through Prinz-Luitpold-Haus. Trip reports document northern approaches through Kalter Winkel or Kreuzspitze. Snow and mist can make the journey substantially harder, even in summer.

Climbing Experiences

The 2024 accounts show varied conditions on northern approaches: residual snow in Kalter Winkel, mist and rocky terrain around Kreuzspitze. Some walkers choose to stop before the summit. DAV Donauwörth lists the southern Bäumenheimer Weg as closed; it must not be confused with the approach from Prinz-Luitpold-Haus.
