Description

Guru Shikhar (1,722 m), "the peak of the guru," is the highest point of the Aravalli Range and the highest point in all of Western India. It rises in the Arbuda Mountains of the Sirohi District of Rajasthan, about 15 km from Mount Abu — the only hill station in that desert state. Its name comes from the Guru Dattatreya temple near the summit, a revered pilgrimage site; the top also hosts an observatory (run by the Physical Research Laboratory) that makes use of the clear high-altitude air. Unlike most highest peaks, Guru Shikhar is very easy to reach: a road brings vehicles almost all the way up, and steps then lead to the temple and a viewing point offering wide panoramas of the Aravalli hills and the Rajasthan–Gujarat plains below. Its status as the "roof of Western India," its spiritual significance and its easy access make Guru Shikhar one of the main attractions of the Mount Abu area, most comfortably visited in the cool November–February season.

Routes

Akses jalan dari Gunung Abu ke puncak — kuil Dattatreya

Sangat mudah / non-teknis: berkendara hampir sampai puncak lalu naik tangga ke kuil
Setengah hari (kunjungan wisata/ziarah)

The most common route: drive about 15 km from Mount Abu along a winding road to a parking area near the top, then climb steps to the Guru Dattatreya temple and viewing point at the 1,722 m high point. From the top there are panoramas of the Aravalli hills and the plains below; an observatory also stands near the summit.
