Description

Mount Slamet (3,428 m) in Central Java is an active conical volcano and the second-highest peak on Java after Semeru, nicknamed the 'roof of Central Java'. Its most popular route is via Bambangan (Purbalingga), with nine posts leading to Pos Pelawangan and a sandy summit. The mountain is also wrapped in mystical lore among hikers. Main hazards include crater gases, a steep sandy-rocky summit, storms and cold, and limited water sources along the trail.

Registrasi pendakian Gunung Slamet umumnya Rp25.000/orang (via Bambangan, Purbalingga; data 2025) dan wajib melampirkan surat keterangan sehat. Via Permadi Guci (Tegal) ada SIMAKSI sekitar Rp35.000 (sudah termasuk asuransi) plus tiket masuk kawasan wisata Guci. Ojek dari basecamp ke Pos 1 sekitar Rp70.000. Catatan penting: per 2026 status Gunung Slamet Level II (Waspada) — jalur sempat ditutup 5 April-9 Juni 2026 dan dibuka kembali terbatas mulai 10 Juni 2026 hanya sampai Pos 9/Pelawangan, dilarang masuk radius 2 km dari kawah.

Route from Kaliwadas, Sirampog, Brebes Regency (north side). It cuts through forest, then crosses a challenging section known as the 'Dragon's Back' — a narrow ascending ridge — before reaching the summit. Quieter than Bambangan.
