Description

Gunung Sekedau is an isolated low hill in the lowlands of West Kalimantan, at roughly 0°35'N, 111°45'E, in the western part of Kapuas Hulu Regency (PeakVisor places it within Semitau district). Despite the similar name, it is not in Sekadau Regency. Its elevation is reported inconsistently: the PeakVisor topographic database gives 143 m with 86 m of prominence, while the GeoNames gazetteer — the basis of the Cebuano Wikipedia article — records 498 m. Since the hill stands on the flat Kapuas basin lowland, the PeakVisor figure looks more plausible and the 498 m value is treated as a probable gazetteer error. The surroundings are largely forest-covered flat terrain with a tropical climate, an average temperature around 23 °C and roughly 3,910 mm of annual rainfall — December the wettest (about 553 mm) and June the driest (about 184 mm). Population density nearby is low, around 32 people per km².
