Description
Gunung Seblat is a non-volcanic peak at 2,383 m a.s.l. on the border of Lebong Regency (Bengkulu) and Musi Rawas Regency (South Sumatra), within the UNESCO-recognised Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS). The most-used trailhead begins at Lebong Tambang village as basecamp, ascending through dense rainforest with steep sections and open savanna. The area is a critical biodiversity stronghold: Rafflesia arnoldii and Amorphophallus (corpse flower) grow on lower slopes, while Nepenthes pitcher plants appear above roughly 1,900 m. Resident fauna include Sumatran tigers, Malayan tapirs, siamangs, and helmeted hornbills, making Seblat an important refuge for endangered species. Far fewer climbers attempt Seblat compared to the adjacent Gunung Kerinci, keeping the mountain largely wild.
