Description
Gunung Sangka is a forested peak in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province, Sumatra, lying within the Bukit Barisan range near Kerinci Seblat National Park. Geographic databases give its summit an elevation of about 1,895 metres above sea level (a local mountain listing cites ~1,800 masl), rising roughly 190 metres above the surrounding terrain with a base about 1.7 km wide. It sits some 13.9 km southeast of Gunung Kerinci (3,805 m), Indonesia's highest volcano, which dominates the surrounding landscape. Its slopes and surroundings are almost entirely forest-covered, with a mean temperature near 17 °C, high annual rainfall (~2,782 mm) and very sparse population. Local sources place it near the village of Sungai Sampun in Kerinci Regency. The mountain is very poorly documented: there is no established or official climbing route and no well-known ascent reports, so detailed information on trails, permits and summit conditions remains very limited.
