Description
Gunung Rakutak is a non-volcanic mountain standing at 1,922 metres in the Kamojang Nature Reserve, Bandung Regency, West Java. It is regarded as one of West Java's more challenging hikes, with steep trails and rewarding scenery. Three main routes lead to the summit: via Sukarame (Pacet District), via Ciharus, and via Majalaya, each taking approximately 5–6 hours. Along the way hikers pass Danau Ciharus — a clear natural lake in the forest — and the Jembatan Shiratal Mustaqim, a narrow shoulder-width ridge section with steep drops on both sides. The ridge and summit offer panoramic views of surrounding peaks including Gunung Papandayan and the Kamojang Crater. The dry season (April–October) is the best time to hike. Climbers must report to the local BKSDA post before entering the nature reserve.
