Description

Bukit Propok, popularly called Savana Propok, is a savanna hill on the foothills of Mount Rinjani in the Sembalun area of East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, at roughly 1,800 m (about 1,809 m per map data). Its draw is a sweep of yellowish-brown grassland ringed by hills, backed by Mount Rinjani and views over the green Sembalun valley. Because it sits in a valley basin, nights get very cold — a thin layer of frost has been reported, surprising trekkers. The route usually starts from a base camp in the Sembalun area (around 1,273 m, near Taman Wisata Pusuk), climbing through root-strewn forest and narrow ridges for about 3 hours to the savanna, plus roughly another hour to the camp/summit area. It is a soft trek doable in one day and one night and is often combined with Bukit Kondo, making it a popular way to sample the Rinjani atmosphere without a long expedition. Note: sources differ slightly on the exact administrative village (around Sembalun) and the precise elevation.
