Description

Gunung Pemasak — spelled "Gunung Pemasek" in the NGA/GNS toponymic database, GeoNames (ID 7056650) and Wikidata (Q25287349) — is a low hill in Pandan Indah village, Praya Barat Daya district, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. Its GNS feature code is HLL, a hill rather than a mountain. Elevation figures disagree between sources: the GNS record gives 170 m, PeakVisor computes 186 m with only 10 m of prominence, while a digital-elevation-model reading at the same point gives about 116 m. Such small prominence means Pemasak is really the high point of a ridge rather than a free-standing hill; PeakVisor lists the nearest higher neighbour as Gunung Bolor Belek just 721 m to the southwest, while the highest point of the wider area is Gunung Mareje (714 m) some 7.6 km to the northwest. The nearest town is Praya, about 12.6 km to the northeast. The hill is most easily located by its neighbour, the Pengga Dam in Plambik village of the same district. A GeoNames-derived encyclopaedic stub even places Pemasek "in the lake of the Pengga Reservoir", but OpenStreetMap mapping puts the reservoir body some 3.5–4 km to the north-northwest, so the hill is better described as sitting in the valley downstream of the dam rather than within its impoundment. According to Indonesia's Directorate General of Water Resources, the Pengga Dam was built in 1991–1994, holds 16.08 million m³ at normal water level with a maximum inundation area of about 487 ha and a 196.6 km² catchment, irrigates 3,189 ha of rice fields and supplies 200 litres per second of raw water — more recently directed at meeting the water needs of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone. The surrounding landscape has a savanna climate, is almost entirely farmland, and carries a population density of around 493 people per km². DATA LIMITATION: no hiking source, village government page or media report discussing this particular hill could be found; all figures come from toponymic databases and elevation models. Even the spelling of its name is inconsistent (Pemasak in OpenStreetMap, Pemasek in GNS/GeoNames/Wikidata), and no freely licensed photograph of its summit exists — the image shown is a landscape of the low hills of Central Lombok in the same area, not the Pemasak summit.
