Description

Gunung Pegasingan — better known as Bukit Pergasingan — is a hill of about 1,670 m (some survey figures put it as high as ~1,806 m) in Sembalun Village, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, right at the foot of Mount Rinjani. It is one of Sembalun's favourite trekking spots because the climb is relatively short (around 3–4 hours to the summit, with an average steepness of ~60 degrees) yet rewards hikers with an extraordinary panorama: the towering silhouette of Mount Rinjani in the distance and the terraced fields of Sembalun's farmers laid out like a colourful mosaic when seen from above. For its sunrise views, many hikers ascend before dawn or camp at the summit. Pergasingan is often called a 'mini Rinjani' and serves as a popular alternative when the Rinjani climbing route is closed.
